Someone who lives in an apartment, condo or other small dwelling may want the companionship of a dog, but they may not have a lot of space in their home or a large yard to provide for a larger dog. In these cases, a smaller dog is perfect. A smaller dog needs less room to roam, allowing those who are in smaller spaces the ability to own, love on, and have a small dog as an acquaintance. - Questions And Information | South Florida Labradoodles, LLC
South Florida Australian Labradoodles has answers to some common questions. SF AUSTRALIAN LABRADOODLES One of the many wonderful things about Australian Labradoodles are the wide variety of coat colors. Labradoodles come in many colors to suit everyone's taste. There are solid colors, mismatched colors, parti-colors (two colors), and phantoms just to name a few. New colors are being identified all the time as slight variations in colors come about. And just to keep us guessing, puppies might fade or darken as they mature. Australian Labradoodles are intelligent dogs which are easy to train. They are great with children, other dogs and make the ideal family pet. They are very clever, sociable, and joyful. They are prime candidates to be service dogs. Active, comical and opportunistic, they can attempt to outsmart their owner if undisciplined. They are also easygoing and non-aggressive. A well-bred Australian Labradoodle with a characteristic temperament is a true joy for any family. This breed was created by a Royal Guide Dogs Association Trainer who sought to create an allergy-friendly Guide Dog. WHAT SIZES DO AUSTRALIAN LABRADOODLES COME IN? Although they come in a few sizes, South Florida Australian Labradoodles only has Miniatures and a few litters that will be Medium. STANDARD: 21" TO 24" The "Ideal" size for a standard female is 21 to 23 inches and for a male 22 to 24 inches. Weight range tends to be 50 to 65 pounds. MEDIUM: 17" TO 20" The "Ideal" size for a medium female is 17 to 19 inches and for a male 19 to 20 inches. Weight range tends to be 30 to 40 pounds. MINIATURE: 14"TO 16" The "Ideal" size for a miniature is 14 to 16 inches with no correlation between height and sex of the miniature Australian Labradoodle. Weight range tends to be 16 to 25 pounds. WHAT IS AN AUSTRALIAN LABRADOODLE? The Australian Labradoodle is different from any other labradoodle. In the early days, the Australian Labradoodle was simply a cross between a Labrador Retriever and a Poodle. Dogs from this cross typically were bred to each other over future generations, where as the Australian Labradoodles are also know as "Multi-generational" Labradoodles. Then, in the late 1980's, Tegan Park and Rutland Manor, the two founders of the Australian Labradoodle as we know it today, began carefully infusing several other breeds into early generations of their Lab/Poodle crosses, to improve temperament, coat, conformation, and size. The infused breeds include Irish Water Spaniel as well as the American and English Cocker Spaniel. The resulting labradoodles subsequently have been bred to each other, continuing the multi-generational tradition. Today, Australian Labradoodles are wonderful, intelligent dogs with lush coats that are more reliably low to non-shedding and allergy friendly than any other type of Labradoodles such as first generation Lab/Poodle crosses, or F2 Labradoodles. Even when the other types of Labradoodles are bred on for generations, the result is not an Australian Labradoodle, as the attributes of the infused breeds were not included in their ancestry 30 plus years ago. After breeding these dogs for so many generations, they’ve become more like a standard breed than a novelty hybrid. Not only do they have a different coat and conformation, but also a different temperament. That doesn’t mean American Labradoodles and other Poodle crosses aren't good dogs. They’re just different. You also have to take into account the quality of the breeding stock. Purchase and import of genuine multigenerational Australian Labradoodles from Australia is costly. The cost of extensive pre-breeding health testing and two-year guarantees also factor into the cost of your Australian Labradoodle. Once you have an Australian Labradoodle you will realize there is no other dog like this. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN AUSTRALIAN LABRADOODLE AND AMERICAN LABRADOODLE (F1, FB)? There is quit a difference between a multigenerational Australian Labradoodle and an American Labradoodle. There are F1b's and this is not an Australian Labradoodle. F1b means they breed a Poodle to another breed such as a Labrador Retriever, Golden Retriever etc., and then they take a puppy from that breeding and breed that new dog to a Poodle. This makes the new litter 75% Poodle. Some breeder's are selling only F1's. This means the puppy has a Poodle mom or dad and another breed such as listed above. This is a litter that is 50% Poodle, and 50% the other breed. An F1's and F1b's will be hard to say their puppies won't shed as many of them do shed. A Multigenerational Authentic Australian Labradoodles are bred multi-generational Australian Labradoodle to multi-generational Australian Labradoodle. Our puppies have consistent personalities, non shedding fleece coats. The personalities of our puppies are consistent across the litters; fun, smart, intuitive, mellow puppies. They are generation after generation of health tested parents so you know you are getting the healthiest puppy possible. Our Australian Labradoodle coats are Wavy Fleece, some straighter than others. These are non-shedding and allergy-friendly. F1B coats can be Woolly, Curly Fleece or Wavy Fleece. These can be shedding or non-shedding. F1 coats can be Wavy, Borderline Wavy and Straight. All these coats can shed from a light to moderate to heavy shedding. The investment in a puppy is a long time investment. Please do the homework so you understand what you are getting. HOW DOES THE PUPPY SELECTION PROCESS WORK? SF Labradoodles reserves the right to select “first picks” any puppies to advance the betterment of our Breeding Program , prior to companion pet designation of a litter, which begins at six weeks of age. We pick based on deposit date, but we also take into consideration during the selection process, special needs, color and personality match. We take great care to match our puppies to the right families by closely watching and continually interacting with our puppies through their early development stage. We have plenty of pictures and video for each family to select their puppy. Should your selected litter not have a puppy that fits your needs, we will move your reservation to another available litter. All of our puppies will have amazing soft wavy fleece coats, wonderful temperaments and eager to learn. Unexpected non-pregnancies along with gender, size and coat color of puppies we have no control over. Everyone of our families have been extremely happy with their puppy. Since Australian Labradoodles have been around for so many generations, they’ve become more like a standard breed and all of their temperaments are very similar. Since we implement Puppy Culture to give the puppies the best start in their lives, our puppies with some additional training, will be the perfect family dog. IS THERE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A MALE AND A FEMALE? Both make excellent pets and because they will have to be spayed and neutered, you shouldn’t see a difference in gender. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE FROM AN AUSTRALIAN LABRADOODLE THAT IS REGISTERED AND AUSTRALIAN LABRADOODLES THAT ARE NOT? When you see a breeder that is registered with an Association you know your dog is coming from the original Australian Labradoodle lines from Tegan Park and/or Rutland Manor. You are assured that your puppies parents and their parents and their parents have been through extensive health testing. As the breed developed, the Associations introduced a new level of health testing requirements, previously unheard of in the pure-bred dog world. All of our breeding dogs have been to an Opthalmologist to have their eyes certified healthy and have had x-rays of their hips/elbows that are certified by the OFA, to make sure they are as healthy as can be. They hearts, patellas and common diseases are tested and also have a DNA Profile to prove the dog is who is registered. As you can see we go through extensive testing to provide the healthiest puppy to our families. Belonging to the Association requires us to do disease testing to make sure our dogs are the healthiest they can possibly be. We also provide a 2 Year Health Guarantee and Lifetime Re-homing, which means at any point if you can not take care of your dog we will take it back and find it the best home possible. WHICH OF YOUR DOGS HAVE THE BEST TEMPERAMENTS? We get this question a lot when someone is looking for a puppy. They want to make sure the parents aren't crazy, hyper or mean and will pass this down to their puppies. If you look at our Boys and Girls page, you will see most of our lines are from years ago, so we are very familiar with each of our lines and what type of temperaments are produced in those lines. We ONLY breed amazing dogs with amazing temperaments. The main difference in all of our puppies are some are outgoing and some are more reserve. They are very smart, loving and happy dogs and that's the type of puppies we have. CAN WE COME VISIT THE PUPPIES? For the health and safety of our dogs and puppies, we do not allow visitors. Visitors can unknowingly bring diseases onto our property, which would be harmful to our puppies, adult dogs, and breeding program as a whole. We are an in-home breeder and don't take chances with health and safety. Additionally, there is a canine respiratory virus that is going around. We are taking every measure possible to ensure that our puppies and dogs remain healthy. I'm sure you would want these same precautions in place for the benefit of your puppy when the time comes!

South Florida Labradoodles reserves the right to use a different stud than originally planned to improve the quality of a litter. It may even be necessary at times to replace an upcoming litter with an entirely different pairing due to the interference of Mother Nature in regards to timing. In the event we replace a stud or a future pairing, we will make every effort to ensure the same colors and sizes expected for the litter, however this may not always be possible. South Florida Labradoodles accepts 5 deposits per litter, and reserves first right to retain breeding quality puppies for our breeding program from any of our planned litters. This is an estimate, it is up to mother nature..some are on time, some early and some late.

Both are great listeners and easy to train. They are the joy of our lives. Janine Hansel Lake Worth, FL Just wanted to tell you what a hit Murphy was this past weekend. We went to Blue Ridge to see the foliage. We went to fair. While there, everyone was just saying what a beautiful dog he was. One man even asked if he could take his picture. This happens every time we go out with him. A young Boy Scout was handing out dog treats. He asked if it was okay to give Murphy one. I said yes and they were so impressed that Murphy sat to say please. He’s so funny. When he gets tired, he just stops and lays down with all four legs spread out and refuses to budge. It wasn’t hot and we weren’t there long but I think that’s his way of saying he’s ready to leave. If I ask him if he wants a bath, he jumps in the tub and waits for me and if I ask him if he wants to brush his teeth, he goes and sits I front of my bathroom sink because he knows where I keep his toothbrush. We are seriously thinking about getting a second dog. I’d love to have a tuxedo or phantom. Which litter do you think would be best for me? I want to wait until the spring. I just wanted to share with you. I get such a kick out of this little guy. He makes me laugh everyday and I couldn’t love him more. - How We Raise Our Litters | South Florida Labradoodles, LLC
In our desire to raise the most behaviorally sound, confident, and stable puppies possible that is why we implemented the game changing Puppy Culture puppy raising, training, and socialization protocols and are extremely pleased with the results. How we raise our Puppies Everyone loves puppies, they are so cute and sweet, but did you know there are important developmental periods your puppy will go through before ever joining your household? Puppy raising is an art and a science. We want to raise our Australian Labradoodle puppies to have the best chance to grow into confident, stable and able to handle the stresses and challenges of a modern lifestyle. This takes both expertise and a time investment, and it’s totally worth it. In our desire to raise the most behaviorally sound, confident, and stable puppies possible that is why we implemented the game changing Puppy Culture puppy raising, training, and socialization protocols and are extremely pleased with the results. Here is an overview of the developmental stages each puppy goes through, and the Puppy Culture protocol during that period. Day 3 – 16 Healthy puppies are provided with Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS). ENS also called the “Super Dog Program” takes advantage of early neurological stimulation to help “jump start” a puppy’s adrenal system. The benefits of ENS include: stronger heart, greater endurance, stronger immune system, faster recovery from and tolerance for stress, among others. Day 14 - 21 Puppies have developmental period and those developmental periods are defined by behavioral markers? It’s important to be able to correctly identify these behavioral markers, because something that is extremely beneficial one week, could be very harmful in the next week, depending on what developmental period the puppy is in. During this time the puppies open their eyes and start toddling. So we protect their eyes from bright light and enrich the environment optimizes brain development during this time. Week 3 The Enrichment Effect: Puppies receive an expertly enriched environment, the benefits of which will last a lifetime. This continues every week until puppies leave. We begin socializing the puppies, Startle Recovery exercises to prime puppies for the challenges of a busy life and Foundation exercises for the prevention of separation anxiety. Pee Pad is placed in whelping box, they may or may not start to use it at this point. Week 4 Puppies are moved into a larger weaning pen, with age appropriate enrichment, to help them grow stronger in body and mind. Emotional Resiliency Exercises are done, giving the puppies the gift of “bounce back” from life challenges. Novel surfaces and sounds are introduced, to help puppies become adaptive to change sights and sounds. Puppies are removed from the litter for individual “cuddle” sessions, this helps prevent separation anxiety later. Problem solving games are introduced, these help puppies learn to handle life’s frustrations early. Litter box is introduced and puppies will start to use it. Week 5 Puppies learn to communicate with us in socially acceptable ways, such as Manding, instead of jumping up, biting, and grabbing. Barrier challenges are introduced, to help puppy learn to problem solve and handle frustration. We continue to offer new and unique items, toys, and challenges each day as puppies continue to learn to LOVE novelty and change. Clicker training starts and puppies start learning their core skills: Attention, Manding (asking politely), Come. Fear starts: At five weeks puppies are for the first time capable of experiencing true fear. We expertly guide the puppies through their fear period, avoiding any experience that might cause lifelong fear problems, and building more emotional resilience as we go along. Week 6 Puppies get to practice their training in real life settings, they get to Mand (ask politely) for petting (instead of jumping).
